What is a book?

A book is a vacation, it gives you a chance to escape to another world and learn about new and different things that other people experience or live through.   I think a book gives you a chance to escape the world you are in and experience something new and forget about everything in your world.  I think a book allows you to imagine things that would never be possible.
I agree with Nancy Jo Sales because of the idea that an actual book takes you to the world the book has created whether it is the future, present, or past.  Whereas reading off of an electronic device traps you in the present and you can’t get the full effect of the book such as the size, texture, smell because all of those things help the book take you to its world.  I also agree with Joe Meno because he believes that a book is special in the way that a book goes through history and family, to have a book passed down in generations is much more special that having a book being passed down through an electronic device.  A book has more meaning because all books give a different vibe or have a different personality and without having pages, a smell, texture, or size on an ebooks or iPad takes away the book’s personality.
I disagree with Victor LaValle because he believes the book’s idea is what makes it special and the form does not matter it is just as ordinary as another object.  I disagree with this because when I see a toaster I don’t see a story or meaning behind it and same thing with an iPad.  But when I see a book I imagine the story and how that book affected me or where I was when I read that book.  I think keeping books alive is very important for the people that do find books important in their life.
